Meet our teachers

Ina Rommeck

Founder and head teacher

Ina grew up in Germany before coming to the US, where she completed her Bachelors and two Masters degrees.  She studied Animal Behavior and Child Development at the University of California at Davis.

Ina combined her lifelong love of nature and her passion for working with children by founding Kindergruppe Waldwichtel in 2015.

As a teacher, Ina likes to play, laugh, and connect authentically. She strives to build a warm and trusting relationship with each individual child and has deep respect for children's play as the driver for their development. She also strives to support the parents in the program by building a strong community of families.

Ina feels passionate about getting children connected to nature by joining them in their explorations and sharing their wonder about the natural world.

Through observation, self-reflection, and experience, Ina has created a program designed around the children's needs and grounded in current research on child development.

Lina Wood

co-teacher

Lina has been our wonderful co-teacher since 2017.

As part of a multicultural family of seven, she was born in Germany and spoke German with her mother growing up.  Her warm, nurturing, and playful spirit has been a wonderful addition to our group as she brings her gift to connect with each child through play and respectful conversation. Lina holds a Bachelors degree in Ecology, Behavior & Evolution from UCLA.

She deeply believes in the benefits of being in nature for a child's healthy development and has broad experience in outdoor education, teaching students from elementary to the collegiate level.  We are so lucky to have her on the teaching team!
